Oj! Det var bra!

It's been decided.

The Swedish government is crazy.

Förryckt. Mad. Crazy.

This has been decided by me and I'm quite sure that you will agree with me once I've explained the above statement.

In America school is pretty expensive, even if public schools are free you still have to pay for all those extras that go along with it. Paper, pencils, notebooks, etc. It adds up. And don't even try to tell me that you think college is fairly priced, the money people pour out of their pockets for college is insane. And it gets more expensive every year.

Don't even think about going to an out of state college, unless you're a genius with a 4.0 GPA or the heir to some tire company mogul, because if don't have the cash you'll be eating ramen noodles for the rest of your life living somewhere like Quiet Forest Trailerpark on the side of the interstate.
But not in Sweden.

You see the Swedish government actually seems to want their students to go to school and get a education. School is free, lunch is free (and tasty if I may add) and the government actually pays the students to go to school.

That's right. They pay them.

And not a measly 25 bucks, no a good 1000 Kronor per month. That is roughly 154 USD. Are you starting to understand the insanity of the people sitting up in Högsta Domstolen? (The equivalent to the U.S. Supreme Court) Every month.....even if your sick. Thats a good amount of money in Sweden, I calculate that I could buy 100 tubs of Risifrutti (My favorite Swedish food ever) with money like that. Or seven pairs of jeans from H&M or even (god forbid) 50 bottles of Smirnoff Ice.

But if you haven't quite reached the consensus of the insanity of the government then let me tell you about what comes after Highschool.

In Sweden college is..........free.

Yes.

FREE.

A student can chose any major, any college (as long as it is supported by the government) in any city in the country of Sweden. Stockholm, Malmö, Goteborg, Umeå, and even Örebro to name a few.

Imagine that, a country that actually wants people to learn. Preposturous.

Of course you have to have the grades, no one would put money into a person when it's obvious they don't care, but still.

I want to go to college in Sweden. Hahaha

At school I told my friends about the American system. How expensive college is and so forth. They looked at me with wide eyes, pausing in the middle of their tomato, feta and olive salads to consider what I had said.

''That's sick'' a friend says, shaking her head. Another friend raises her eyebrows cutting up another peice of grilled basil chiken. '' I never want to live in America.'' She says in Swedish, probably thinking I don't understand her.

Don't worry I'm starting to feel the same way.

Haha.
