Alleskolan on Crack

So I went to school today with the humdrum of a regular school day in mind. Woke up at 5:30 and walked to the busstation at 7:05 to catch the 7:01 bus that comes at 7:15, slept the whole fifteen minutes to Hallsberg. I should have known something was off when I saw a good forty or so people standing outside on the grass. Today was a beautiful damp and foggy 40 degrees, so they had to be there for a reason, not just because it's the new hang out. One of my classmates grabbed me as I headed to my locker.

''Where are you going?'' He asked.

''To put this away.''

''And then you're coming back?''

''For........?''

''Treasure hunt.''

Okay, treasure hunting. All highschools should have treasure hunting at 7:30 in the freezing morning.

So every year Alleskolan has this thing called the Alle-Olympics, a treasure hunt, in which the class who gets the most points is the first to graduate. The list we got was extremely long, but here is a example of what we had to find.

  • Santa Claus
  • Bloody Mary (drink)
  • Nudist
  • Crossdresser
  • Pink shoes
  • Bell Peppers
  • Dog
  • Empty soda bottle
  • Ice cubes
  • Snow
  • People named Lotta (with extra points for each Lotta)

(One of the things on the list was also that someone had to snort ground coffee. Don't ask I wasn't the one who did that.) So we split up into groups before complete chaos erupted. People were everywhere, driving home, running to the local ICA (supermarket) that wasn't open yet, calling friends and parents and screaming their classes names. My group went searching and when we came back, the school grounds were a complete disastor.

There were dogs everywhere, boys dressed like girls (complete with makeup) Jack Sparrows, Spidermans, naked guys streaking, naked girls wrapped firmly in towels, people dressed like santa clauses, bottles of budweiser, coco poweder stained teeth, microwaves strewn across the grass and every kind of cake imaginable in slices, paper plates, plastic boxes, or unopened bags.

Complete madness. Alleskolan on crack.

And it was probably the most fun I've had in school to date.

Lynn, this sounds like amazing fun! I'm happy you're enjoying Sweden, and I am glad to hear you are picking up the language and culture so naturally! We miss you in good ol' South Carolina. After reading this post, however, I wish I went to a school where we got to go on massive scavenger hunts! Keep the blogs comin'.

I decided going to Brazil was not for me, at least not in high school; God told me He didn't want me going there, so i relented. FAITH semester starts up this tuesday and i went to this banquet they had tonight for it and the food was good, though maybe not as good as that food uve talked about in sweden. still, i prefer southern cookin, fried chicken, mashed taters, biscuits, green beans, tomaters, cornbread, and good ole sweet tea. do they have sweet tea in sweden? gah, id have to have mah sweet tea, ill take it with me when i go overseas in college and ill order it off the internet when i run out, lol. anyhow, i think for the rosetta stone, im gonna buy either Arabic, Swahili, Greek, or Farsi, and eventually i will buy Swedish. ok, ill let cha go, it's 10: 45 here thou im sure its the middle of the nite/early mornin 4 you. got 2 go to bed, another day of school/bi-lo work awaits. adios amiga,
joseph
